Brothers,

Virginia Tech is 4 and 0 for the first time since 2017. Saturday's win at Boston College was not pretty, and it did not have to be. Down 14 to 6 in the fourth quarter, in rain and wind gusting to 40 miles an hour, the Hokies tied it on Ethan Grunkemeyer's 14-yard touchdown pass to Marlion Jackson and a two-point run by Jeffrey Overton Jr. A few minutes later Overton took the first play of a drive 76 yards for the go-ahead touchdown, part of a 209-yard day. Final: 21 to 14.

That follows 73 to 3 over VMI, 44 to 21 over Old Dominion, and 35 to 26 at Maryland, and it is the first ACC win of the James Franklin era.

If you watched on the ACC Network, you did not see the finish. At the two-minute timeout the broadcast went to commercial, cycled through the same ACC Network spots again and again, and never came back to our game. When it returned, it was the Florida State game. If anyone heard the last two minutes on the radio, tell us what we missed.

Pitt, Friday night at Lane

Next up is Pitt at Lane Stadium this Friday, October 2, at 7:00 p.m. on ESPN. A Friday night, a national audience, the new lights, and a 4 and 0 team. Six brothers are already on the Game Day board: Jay Johnston in Lot 55 at the end of the Drillfield, Jim McAlister in the grass behind Lot 3 spot 202, John George in Lot 1 space 541 with Frank Illig and Doug Lauver, Judd Robins at Lombardi's tailgate, Steve Daves in Lot 2 spaces 188 to 196, and Tom Crump in Lot 1 space 129 with John Hagen and Randy Coleman.

Add your spot, for Pitt or any game this fall: https://nuprime.org/events.html#gameday

Names and lots are public. Email is optional and never shown.

Homecoming is Georgia Tech on Saturday, October 17. We will have more before then.

Help us build the archive

The photo archive on the website has 32 photographs so far: the 1971 charter composite, the class composites from 1986 to 1989 and 1992 to 1997, the house in 1990 and 1991, and a handful of tailgates and reunions. That leaves a lot of years with nothing. We have no composites from 1972 through 1985, none from 1989 to 1992, and none after 1997.

If you have old pictures, we would like a copy: rush, formals, pledge classes, the house, road trips, game days. A phone photo of a print is fine. Reply to this email or send them to [email protected] with whatever you remember about the year and the names.

Many of the photographs already up have no names or dates. If you can name a face, tell us: https://nuprime.org/archive.html

Where did they go?

Over fifty-plus years the chapter collected a lot: the class composites, the wooden plaques each pledge class made, the photo albums. For decades they hung in the card room and sat on shelves around the house. Over time they scattered, and that includes whatever the active chapter still had when it went dormant this spring.

Do you know where any of it ended up? If a composite or a plaque is on your wall, in your attic, or in a box a brother kept, tell us. We are not asking anyone to give anything up. We want to know where the pieces are and photograph them so every brother can see them. And if you have something you can no longer keep, tell us, and we will put the word out to brothers who might give it a good home.

Missing Brothers

The list is down to 108. Since the last issue we have found thirteen more brothers. Hank Brooks (Alpha Phi, 1986) was one of the five names we asked about last issue, and a text message did it. Chris Flinchum (Beta Theta, 1991) found us himself through the website. Fred Heptinstall (Epsilon, 1972), Peter De Luca (Omicron, 1976), Mickey Martin (Alpha Nu, 1984), Bob McDonald (Beta Alpha, 1988), and Steve Kayhart (Beta Alpha, 1988) round out the older classes. Matthew Skipper (2019) sent in two from the Fall 2018 class, Brendan Embon and Keller Royer, which is exactly how this list gets shorter: one brother who knows two more. Steve Daves then sent in four at once: George Fuller and Nick Papadopoulos (both Alpha Lambda, 1983) and Rex Robinson and Scott Schnupp (both Alpha Pi, 1985).

Three more are close. We have phone numbers but no email yet for Andy Slack (1985), Troy Brown (1986), and Glenn Wright (Beta Alpha, 1988), and we will be calling. If you talk to them first, ask them to send a note to [email protected] and they come off the list.

Five more we would like to find next:

Bryan K. Davis (1985), Michael J. Hirsch (1985), Stephen M. Jones (1986), Galen S. Sampson (1986), Michael B. Agee (1988)

If you know how to reach any of them, a note to [email protected] closes the gap. The full list, by decade: https://nuprime.org/missing-brothers.html
